French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe opens the “Rencontres universitaires Campus France” on November 19, 20 and 21, 2018

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe will open the 2018 edition of the Rencontres Campus France on November 19. Philippe will direct a speech to participants and partners, together with Frédérique Vidal, French Minister of Higher Education and Research, and Jean-Baptise Lemoyne, Secretary of State for the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The Rencontres Campus France (Campus France Meetings) include all stakeholders of university cooperation (institutions, partners, embassies of France, and Campus France Offices) over a three-day event. This year, since the development of an active “Francophonie” (French-speaking world) is at the heart of the French president’s concerns, the Rencontres will mainly focus on Francophonie. They will be held on November 19, 20 and 21, 2018 at the Centquatre-Paris. 

The Prime Minister will open this exceptional event on Monday, November 19, 2018.

Frédérique Vidal, Minister for Higher education and Research, and Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State for the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs will join him to speak to all 400 expected participants and partners. 

The 2018 edition of the Rencontres Campus France will feature:

  • Over 4,000 face-to-face meetings timeslots for country representatives (diplomatic posts and Campus France Offices, universities and/or local ministries), representatives of French institutions members of Campus France Offices,
  • 30 workshops and round tables dealing with themes in relation with the development of university cooperation,
  • More than 100 representatives from 60 diplomatic posts,
  • 30 foreign higher education institutions or involved in binational collaboration,
  • Informal meeting times to develop projects between participants.

in close collaboration with the supervising ministries of the Agency (Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation) and the 3 Institutions Conferences (Conférence des Présidents d’Universités, Conférence des grandes écoles and Conférence des directeurs des écoles françaises d’ingénieurs). The event will create a major dialogue space in order to foster the development of the drawing power of French research and higher education worldwide.

The main goal of the Rencontres universitaires de la Francophonie event is to develop the drawing power of French higher education in countries promoting an active Francophonie. The Rencontres value university cooperation with countries and universities wanting to offer French-speaking courses, trainings in French language or courses with French included in their academic course.

Other stakeholders of Francophonie are involved in the event: Campus-FLE ADCUEFE, AEFE, Alliance Française de Paris, CCI Paris-Ile de France, CIEP, CIUP, Institut français and OIF. The Rencontres Universitaires de la Francophonie are part of French President Macron’s Plan langue française et plurilinguisme (Plan for French language and multilingualism).
