The French Prime Minister’s Official Visit in Vietnam is devoted to Francophonie and Youth

During his recent official visit in Vietnam, the French Prime Minister defined the cooperation priorities France wants to develop. Investments in youth are a priority.

“There’s no better investment that an investment benefitting to intelligence, knowledge, training and skills”. These are the terms French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe used to talk about developing priority in relation with Franco-Vietnamese exchanges in law, health, science and culture.

Reminding that “France has been building deep and powerful bonds with the Vietnamese people for a long time, and maybe even so for the last 25 years”, Philippe said he was proud of the various cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.

At the heart of the exchanges is “university cooperation, which made France the first destination in Europe for Vietnamese students, with about 7,000 Vietnamese students in France, with 3,000 additional Vietnamese students studying in French university courses located offshore or settled in Vietnam”

Regarding the critical issue of Francophonie, Philippe said “Vietnam is, of course, the natural lever of Francophonie in Asia in a highly competitive linguistic context”.

And in a context of an highly active Francophonie that Campus France will hold from November 19 to 21 the “Rencontres universitaires de la francophonie” (University Meetings for Francophonie), an event that aims at developing the drawing power of French higher education in countries wanting to promoting French language and culture.
