If you are a PhD student or holder, if you have questions about your professional life, the ANDès says it’s the perfect time to check out your “tailor-made” Passeport Docteur! For the association, it is time to leverage your professional experience and degree. Follow their advice to “join the graduates’ network” and obtain “useful information for the future of your career”.

A Network of Doctors

The ANDès has three main objectives: promoting doctorate/PhD; devoting doctors’ talents to the service of society; creating and putting in synergy networks of doctors. The goal of the association including the Communauté Française des Docteurs (CFD, French Community of Doctors) is to gather doctors in socio-professional networks and hold friendly meetings and events in relation with PhD (CFD days, workshops, seminars).

An Operational Passport

The brand new Passeport Docteur is organised in factsheets divided in three categories: 4 Carrières (Careers) factsheets explain the different lines of business and their specificities for doctors; 3 Repères (Orientation) factsheets provide key points to help future integration in public or private employment sectors; 6 Outils (Tools) factsheets identify the doctors’ strong aspects and provide advice to convince recruiters.

Careers Factsheets

They present an overview of the public sector (how public service is organised in France, employment of contractors or public servants -in research or not-, calendars). The same overview is developed for the private sector, with factsheets developing various themes (business organisation, job types, Research and Development, business creation, social economy, international sector and employment abroad).

Orientation factsheets

Mostly, these statistical key points show the most recent figures in relation with the number of doctors and continuation of a career, but also two glossaries, one in relation with the public sector (common acronyms and prominent players of academic research), and the second focusing on businesses (business types, human resources, financial and strategic aspects).

Tools factsheets

The idea is to learn how to “sell yourself”! These factsheets explain how to talk about your PhD/doctoral degree (presentation of your research subject, valuation of PhD professional experience), but also how to correctly identify your skills and succeed in your transition to job hunting (administrative procedures, specific arrangements for handicapped individuals, procedures for nationals from countries outside the European Union). One last sheet explains in very practical terms how to look for a job and manage to be hired (professional projects and relevant job hunting, resume and cover letters, preparations of interviews and integration in the job).
