Parcoursup 2024 platform: discover all there is to know about the 23,000 training courses available in France

The Parcoursup 2024 information section is open! Since 20 December, applicants may complete the first step to enter the French higher education system and discover on the Parcoursup platform all training courses available in France. After this first glance, as soon as 17 January, the future students will have the opportunity to register on the platform and enter their choices.

For international students, registering to the French higher education system is subject to various admission conditions depending on the nationality, country of residence, secondary school graduation, and type of studies under consideration. Even though using the Parcoursup platform is not always mandatory, the quality of information available on the website is always useful!

Clear, complete and transparent information

Parcoursup is the national platform for preregistering in first year of studies in the French higher education system. In addition to the registration process -which is mandatory for only part of international students-, the website provides information and offers a choice of 23,000 training courses in France. And the ministry explains that it is thus possible to access “clear, complete and transparent information” for support in your choices.

For each training course available on Parcoursup, students have access to an info sheet with all useful information:

  • on the institution: status (public or private), registration fees, acknowledgement labels by the French government, and possible accommodation opportunities (in French “internat”, student residence);
  • on the training course: lectures and options available, success rates, job opportunities and requirements to continue your studies, and number of seats available;
  • on application conditions and requirements: list of requirements to examine applications and their level of importance, conditions and agenda of possible acceptance exams; Information to know if it is possible to be accepted in the chosen training course are also provided with the access rate of the training course in 2023 to know if the training course under consideration is in high demand and/or its level of selection;
  • on the professional insertion rate: the Parcoursup platform is gradually including results in terms of labour market insertion. This information is already available for BTS courses and will gradually extend to professional Licence courses and other professional training courses.

New functions

This year, the information website has been revamped and modernised. The website boasts a new interface, to be accessible to disabled individuals. In addition to these improvements, the Parcoursup training courses search engine also offers new functions, including:

  • the possibility to store your training course search results: in their use, “the next students will have the opportunity to choose “favourites” and find ratings they may store and recall when entering their choices”;
  • the opportunity to compare training courses: un “compare” function is now available to allow “in a few clicks to compare various training courses using criteria considered as important for the student’s choice”, for example the status of the training course (public/private), registration fees, the level of the demand, if a student residence exists, the eligibility of the training course to accept scholarship students or if a label/certification delivered by the ministry exists.

In addition to these new functions, the ministry specifies that support will be implemented to answer the questions of applicants with “many live sessions and chatrooms” already planned to answer students’ questions on the Parcoursup social networks. Also note that video tutorials will be available to explain the preregistration session processes in 2024.
