The Parcoursup 2022 website opens

The Parcoursup 2022 website opened on December 21, 2021. The website offered students to discover the 19,500 training courses, recognised by the French government, that form the available offer in France. This is an opportunity for students, whether French or foreign, to check all information that can help them refine their orientation project!

The Parcoursup application was implemented in 2018 by the French ministry in charge of higher education to collect the training wishes and manage the assignments of French and foreign applicants, as appropriate. According to the ministry, “the Parcoursup site continues to improve in order to provide clear, complete and useful information to users in making their orientation choices”.

A 5-steps information course

The Parcoursup website is user-friendly and easy to access, and it offers multiple parts and sections to guide you step by step, thanks to the ONISEP, the national entity for orientation information:

  • the first of these steps, “J’explore les possibles” (I explore all opportunities) offers a choice among several possibilities: the various types of education institutions in France and the studies taught there, the occupations, the professional world and a table to auto-assess your skills (in law and and sciences);
  • in the second step, Je découvre les formations et les parcours (I discover training courses and study plans), future students have the opportunity to discover courses by sector, to search for a specific course, to obtain an overview of the content of courses at the university, to view MOOCs;
  • in the third step of the search, the website offers to tune future students’ choice of orientation in main categories: health, law, arts, sports, science and humanities, etc.
  • in the fourth step, future students are guided to discover alternative locations and sources of information (forums and fairs, for example);
  • Lastly, at the last step Je prépare mon entrée dans le supérieur (I’m preparing to enter higher education), future students receive advice and support, including in relation with student life (scholarships, jobs, accommodation, transports, health, and more).

A great search engine

In addition to this highly guided information path, the Parcoursup platform embeds a search engine for the 19,500 French training courses, whether public or private, by way of keywords and several filters: type of institutions (public or private), type of training courses, type of arrangements. This last filter lists training courses depending on whether they are taught onsite, remotely or both, or including other forms of arrangement (high-level athletes or artists, students with disabilities).

Once future students find the training course, they have access to an institution factsheets providing several targeted information, conditions of access, educational degrees, expected knowledge and skills, type of training taught in the institution, professional opportunities, key figures, contact details, etc.

The website also offers an interactive map of France where future students can find training courses depending on the region of choice.
