Student sustainable development week : promoting the initiatives and raising awareness

Take part in meet-ups organised by students and key players in sustainable development, from 1st to 7th April, on university campuses all over France.

Student Sustainable Development Week or SEED as it's known in French, is part of Sustainable Development Week organised by the French Minister for Ecological Transition and Solidarity, and is organised by the French Network of Students for Sustainable Development (REFEDD). This network represents student associations and organises concrete sustainable development projects on university campuses, concerning food, biodiversity, energy saving, waste management etc.

Creating sustainable campuses

Since 2015, Student Sustainable Development week has been an offshoot of European Sustainable Development Week which takes place in France from 30th May to 5th June.

In advance of this national event, every year, the first week of April has become an important week for SEED organising events (debates, workshops, training, fun activities), a time for privileged meet-ups between students and key people from sustainable development institutions or associations, all committed to creating more sustainable campuses..

Meeting International Sustainable Development Objectives

In addition to the standard, raising awareness and promotion activities organised by student associations in this area, this week also aims to increase the visibility of the 2030 Agenda adopted by the UN and its 17 Sustainable Development Objectives. These objectives are in fact worldwide objectives in over twenty areas (from sexual equality to protecting the planet, passing by reducing inequities) that the signature States have committed to achieving between now and 2030.
