The French president's international call

In the wake of the decision of the US to leave the Paris Agreement, French President Emmanuel Macron launched on June 1st 2017 a call  [https://www.facebook.com/EmmanuelMacron/videos/1973855302847046/] to researchers and teachers, entrepreneurs, associations and NGOs, students and all of the civil society to take action and join France in the fight against climate change. 

This call seeks to focus all energies on the protection of the planet and shows the determination of France to lead the fight against climate change.

The website www.makeourplanetgreatagain.fr is open to all who want to take action for the protection of our planet by working on projects, continuing research, create business and study in France. 

Over 10,000 messages were sent to the platform since early June 2017, including more than 5,000 from students and researchers. Students and researchers mainly come from the US, but also the UK, India and about a hundred other countries.

Researchers who want to lead a research project in France over a 3-5 years period were invited to present their detailed project. About 30 winners will be announced before the end of 2017 and will be awarded a 1m € funding.

Campus France Agency is in first line to provide advice and guidance to all candidates: link with the CNRS for those who want to apply for a long-term research stay, contact with diplomatic posts for a customised meeting, answers in relation with the application process, and more. In order to better help candidates to a Doctorate (PhD) or Post-Doctorate course find a host lab, Campus France has opened a specific page (https://doctorat.campusfrance.org/phd/offers/search/mopga/1) listing offers on the subject "Make Our Planet Great Again": Climate science, energy transition and Earth system. Candidates also have access to specific address: cometofrance@campusfrance.org
