In order to ensure a workplace free of discrimination and hostility for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people (LGBT), the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation promotes or acts on awareness and prevention. The actions all aim at showing the engagement of each of us to fight discriminations in relation with sexual orientation and gender identity.

As the ministry explains, "the fight against all forms of discriminations and violence in higher education and research institutions is a priority, considering the severe pain caused to victims, whether male or female students or staff of institutions".

Beyond actions punishable by criminal law, prevention of homophobia and support to victims is a responsibility for institutions and all of the education community.

To discover the actions planned, check with the services of student life or health department in your institution.

  • Students, there is an assistance service (7/7 from 8 am to 11 pm) if you are a victim of homophobic discrimination. Call the following numbers: 0 810 20 30 40 and 01 58 91 12 92.
  • Staff of higher education institutions, there is a help guide available to guide you through assistance processes to students exposed to homophobia.

A campaign called "Lutter contre l'homophobie : le combat de toutes et de tous" (Fighting homophobia: a fight for everyone) has been started. The campaign features 4 posters reminding insults and homophobic remarks most heard among gay, lesbian, bisexual or transsexual students.
