French “Lycées” all over the world: a week to promote French-style education

The “Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Etranger” (AEFE, Agency for French Education Abroad) organises the 4th edition of French high schools from November 30 to December 5, 2020 on the theme “Female and male citizens, equal and united: French education to meet the challenges of tomorrow”. A series of events all over the world will promote French education.

France welcomes students from French high schools of the world

67% of foreign holders of a “baccalauréat” in international mobility choose France for their higher studies. For Veronica Escobar, a former student of the French high school in Mexico, this was a natural choice. She arrived at 19 years old in a preparatory class to “grandes écoles”, and chose engineering studies later. Today, Veronica is Head of Technology Projects in a consulting firm, and she volunteered to tell the excellence and diversity of higher studies in France.

A week to promote the French education system abroad

From 30 November to 5 December 2020, the AEFE organises the fourth edition of the Week of French High Schools around the World.

This new edition was opened by Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and takes place as the AEFE celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year.

On all continents, institutions of the network and the AEFE act to organise events on the theme of “Female and male citizens, equal and united: French education to meet the challenges of tomorrow” and thus emphasise “the values carried by an education ‘à la française’”.

An interactive map lists the events organised as part of this week around the world. They provide a better understanding of the French educational offer abroad and the life of schools.

Nearly 370,000 students, 60% of whom are foreign, study in the 535 institutions of the AEFE network in 139 countries.

Studying in France after the “baccalauréat

Campus France supports students from French high schools around the world in the construction of their study project in France. The guide “Etudier en France après le baccalauréat” (Studying in France after the baccalaureate), co-published each year with the AEFE, presents the advantages of the French higher education system and provides all useful information about life in France. Over the years, it has become a precious help for the foreign baccalaureate holders of the AEFE network and their families.

Campus France also assists scholarship holders of the “Excellence-Major” programme in the organisation of their stay in France. Co-financed by the AEFE and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, this scheme enables around 200 scholarships to be awarded each year to the best “bac” holders from French high schools around the world.
