Frédérique Vidal opens the Rencontres Campus France 2020

Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, opened the 19th Rencontres Campus France on Monday 16 November 2020.

Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, opened the 19th Rencontres Campus France (Campus France Meetings), which took place online from 16 to 18 November 2020. The Minister addressed the 500 participants, representatives of French institutions and research organisations, diplomatic posts and Campus France Offices, in a video message, in the presence of Alain Fuchs, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Campus France and Béatrice Khaiat, General Director of Campus France.

In the context of the exceptional health crisis that has marked the year 2020, Frédérique Vidal recalled the unprecedented action of the government to support higher education and research. To reaffirm France's position, she stressed three pillars: attraction policy for international students, support to students and innovative devices that are the connected campuses.

France walked a path different from other countries [...] by balancing openness and health security in the best possible way. 

 

The Rencontres Campus France are a key event in university cooperation. This year, it has been organised in a new, 100% digital format on the theme “Europe under the spotlights”. For 3 days, representatives of the French Embassies of 69 countries, and representatives of 150 higher education institutions exchanged views on their cooperation during face-to-face meetings and led digital workshops on themes related to Europe, the attractiveness of French higher education and student mobility. 

 

On Wednesday 18 November, Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, also spoke at the Rencontres Campus France and opened the General Assembly of the signatories of the “Study in France” convention on this occasion.
