COVID-19: solidarity and innovation in higher education and research

Tous mobilisés dans l’enseignement supérieur” (All engaged in higher education) is the name of the new portal recently created by the Ministry or Higher Education, Research and Innovation to expose and list solidarity initiatives and support and aid arrangements developed all over France.

Amidst this sanitary crisis, the higher education and research community acted, because it’s also a “time for exceptional solidarity and innovation”, according to the ministry, “to make sure that the highest number of people can benefit from the engagement of individuals, associations, and institutions”.

Solidarity initiatives for students

In this state of mind, the ministry in charge of higher education and research chose to put forward a great number of initiatives implemented in institutions all over France. Among the numerous sections available, one helps discover solidarity initiatives highly useful for students. This section lists about 600 local actions and support arrangements in diverse fields (social assistance, culture, sports, psychological support, etc.).

All over France, higher education institutions took specific measures to support international students to face the sanitary crisis.

The work of CROUSes and student association is also under the spotlights: tackling isolation, food, social, and psychological support. Those are only a few actions showing the significance of engagement from stakeholders in student life.
