Held as part of the crossed season, the Choose France fair was the first major event designed to promote France as a whole to Israeli students. The event was organised jointly by Campus France and the French Institute in Israel. 

The Choose France event attracted 23 French higher education institutions, including 6 universities, 1 language school, 3 business schools, 6 engineering schools, 3 art schools, and 4 culinary arts school, 3 French companies and many guests, stakeholders and experts.

After two days dedicated to institutional meetings and the visit of Israeli institutions, the Choose France Fair was opened on November 1st by the Vice-President of the University of Tel-Aviv, Professor Raanan Rein, the Ambassador of France in Israel, Mrs Hélène Le Gal, and General Director of Campus France Agency, Mrs Béatrice Khaiat. 

Throughout the day, in parallel to the fair, various diverse workshops were held and contributed to promote the diversity of the French training offer and French expertise, as did presentations in relation with studies in France held all over the campus of the University of Tel Aviv. Workshops:

A French toast dedicated to discussion in French was held near the fair and hosted by the teams from the linguistic cooperation department of the French Institute. 

A workshop called How to apply for an internship or a job in France? was hosted by Stéphanie Benmoussa-Molkhou; 

An 2-hours intercultural workshop designed and hosted by Stéphanie Flint Luh, from the ENSEA, gathered students from high schools in Nazareth, from Tel Aviv, and French and Israeli. 

A Science Café: Exploring life: the evolution of the Myxozoa genome, tiniest animals on Earth;

 

Themed conferences were given on various themes:

Culinary arts, with a presentation of Chef Paul Bocuse’s career by Hervé Fleury, Vice-President of the Bocuse Institute; 

Architecture, by architect Michel Rémon, in relation with the developments of his work “A vision of reality” and the creation of the centre for nanotechnologies at the heart of the University of Tel Aviv; 

Archaeology, by François Bon, Director of the French Research Centre in Jerusalem;

A Science Master Class: Are sea weeds a sustainable resource for the future? By Arthur Robin IV, researcher at the University of Tel Aviv, and Laurent Mortier, from the LOCEAN Institute (UMPC). 

 

Events

A fashion show to wrap up the fair

To promote the quality of two French fashion schools, ESMOD granted us a fashion show as an opening event with 4 quality pieces, then the FORMAMOD school did a complete presentation with about 40 pieces. 

The Choose France fair provided France with an innovative and dynamic image, and registered more than 800 visitors throughout the day, including a majority of high schools students from all over the country.
