Campus France at the 2019 17th education fair in Minsk

The “Education & Career” trade fair in Minsk is the most prominent trade fair for young people in Belarus.

This year, more than 100 institutions (universities, high schools, vocational schools, education centres, tourist agencies) from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland took part, as well as the Israel Cultural Centre, the Minsk Goethe Institute, the Centre for the Promotion of Higher Education in Greece and the Confucius Institute. According to the organisers, more than 12,200 visitors were welcomed by the fair exhibitors for 3 days. Between 400 and 450 people visited Campus France’s stand, mainly students from 14 to 17 years old accompanied by their parents or teachers.

Around 70% of questions asked by visitors were about English language classes for undergraduate (Licence) and postgraduate (Master) degrees in France. Nevertheless, many Belarusian students were also interested in learning French as a Modern Language and enquired about the various French language lessons offered by the French Embassy. Moreover, students wishing to study in France were mainly interested in science courses (mathematics, physics, chemistry, IT) and subjects such as economics and business. Parents asked many questions about funding options and scholarship programmes. Lastly, highly proficient French-speaking students in particular were interested in the top courses offered by the French-Belarusian Centre and French higher education institutions, as well as in open partnerships with the Lycée du Parc in Lyon and the Integrated Preparatory Course in Chemistry in Rennes.
