You reside in a country affected by the "Etudes en France" procedure

The "Etudes en France" (Studying in France) procedure becomes the reference to access higher education in France. Students who reside in one of the countries affected by this procedure must make a specific request for enrolment in an institute of higher education.

Which countries are affected by the "Etudes en France" procedure?

The "Etudes en France" procedure involves students residing in one of the following 69 countries and territories:

Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Chad, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea, Haiti, Honk Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Ivory Coast, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Peru, Qatar, Republic of Congo, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam.

A single online service for all procedures

The Etudes en France platform is completely dematerialised and manages all of the enrolment procedures for an institute of higher education up until the visa request. Just create a private electronic file and follow the instructions.

You can also file your enrolment applications, talk with the Campus France office in your country of residence and communicate with the institute you wish to enrol in.

You will be asked to pay a fee for this assistance.

Applying to the first year of a training at “Licence” (Bachelor’s) level

The way to enrol in the first year of a training at “Licence” (Bachelor’s) level varies depending on your situation.

If you are living in a country affected by the “Etudes en France" procedure …

1)… and have the nationality of the country in which you are living (for instance, if you are living in Morocco and have the Moroccan nationality)

  • If you are preparing a French or European Baccalauréat/A-levels you must enter your academic choices on the Parcoursup” platform and follow the steps of the "Etudes en France" process;
     
  • If you are preparing another degree course (granting access to higher education), you must make a "Demande d'Admission Préalable - DAP (Preliminary Admission Request) and follow the “Etudes en France” procedure. You can make the DAP online on the “Etudes en France”.
     

2)… and you have the nationality of a country from the European Union or Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Andorra or Monaco (for instance, if you are living in Senegal but have the German nationality), you only need to enter your academic choices on the “Parcoursup” platform.
 

Regardless of your situation, the Campus France office in your country is at your disposal to help you complete the procedures.

If you want to join the higher education system for the academic year 2024/2025 here are the timetables you need to know to apply.

Parcoursup

  • Opening of the platform: 20 December 2023

  • Start and complete your registration: 17 January - 14 March 2024

  • Complete your list of academic choices before: 3 April 2024

  • Launch of the main admission phase: 30 May 2024

  • End of the main admission phase: 12 July 2024

DAP – Demande d'Admission Préalable (Preliminary Admission Request)

  • Registrations open on  1st October 2023

  • Registrations close on 15 December 2023

Your application will be examined at the same time by the 3 universities you have requested. 
 

  • University response and proposals for acceptance : before 30 April 2024
    If it occurs, universities will share with you exemptions from which you may benefit. 
     
  • Student response : before 31 May 2024
    If you have received several acceptance proposals, you will have to make a choice.
    Attention, if you do not answer before 31 May, the absence of answer will be condidered as a refusal. 

 

Applying in 2nd or 3rd year of a Bachelor's or in a Master's degree

If you wish to continue your studies in France from the second or third year of a Bachelor's degree or for a Master's degree, you must follow the "Etudes en France" procedure until you obtain a student visa.

Create your private electronic file and follow the instructions. If necessary, contact the Campus France local office in your country of residence for more information.

Enrolling in a doctorate programme

If you wish to enrol in a doctorate programme, you are not affected by the "Etudes en France" procedure. Contact the Doctoral schools that offer the research subjects that interest you.

Check the Campus France catalogues to find the institutes that correspond to your field. When you have obtained a positive response, file a request for a "talent passport” visa with the French Consulate or Embassy in your country of residence.
