Engineering studies: a field of excellence in France

Engineering is one of the fields of excellence in French higher education. Today, the field allows 900,000 engineers to work in a variety of areas such as civil engineering, software, aeronautics, agronomy, electronics, transportation, health, energy, artificial intelligence, and defense.

In France, the engineering curriculum always integrates managerial and international issues. Multidisciplinarity is favored: economics, human and social sciences, communication, culture, etc.

Engineering programs

France has more more than 200 engineering schools, public and private, with some internal to universities, that cover all areas of engineering. The engineering degree, which qualifies as a Master's, is a national diploma and allows you to register for a doctorate. Depending on the school, the curriculum can be generalist or specialist (agronomy, chemistry, biology, software, etc.).

French engineering schools maintain close ties with companies. They actively participate in their governance and the programs are jointly developed, allowing students to work on practical cases. Several internships are required, and a gap year is also possible to spend a year at a company, in France or abroad, to carry out a study or an expert mission. Exchanges and trips abroad are integrated into the syllabus and recognized for obtaining the engineering diploma.

English is required, and learning a second foreign language, or even a third, is offered by the schools. Certain classes and subject areas are exclusively taught in English in classes open to all nationalities.
