Le passe vaccinal

The health pass becomes the vaccine pass

All audiences

In France, the vaccine pass comes into effect as of 24 January 2022 to replace the “health pass” .The vaccine pass is required to access specific places, but not to study or as requirement to take an exam in a higher education institution.

Update - 24 January 2022

What is the vaccine pass?

The vaccine pass is a health proof in digital (using the TousAntiCovid app) or paper format of three types:

  • A vaccination certificate:  a proof that you have a complete vaccination scheme, with the booster dose done on time for people over 18 years old.

  • A certificate of recovery: proof that you have been cured of Covid-19 for more than 11 days and less than six months;

  • A proof of medical contraindication to vaccination for those affected.

Until 15 February, if you have only received the first dose, you can benefit from a waiver and use a proof of negative test from less than 24 hours old until you receive the second dose.

Who is concerned by the vaccine pass?

The vaccine pass is required for people over 16 years old who wish to enter the following places:

  • bars and restaurants;

  • places of entertainment (cinemas, museums, theatres, sports and entertainment venues, etc.);

  • inter-regional transports: for long-distance journeys by plane, train or bus;

  • fairs, professional seminars and exhibitions;

  • stores and shopping centres (depending on the decision of the prefect).

The vaccine pass will not be required in higher education institutions for education purposes or as requirement to take exam. It won’t be required in university libraries and university restaurants either.

However, the vaccine pass is required for festive events organised during the start-of-year period by student unions, or when higher education institutions organise cultural and sports events (unrelated to the study courses) in institutions accepting external public.

If you already have the TousAntiCovid mobile application, you don’t need to do anything to obtain the vaccine pass in digital format.

In any case, you can download this application to obtain your digital vaccination pass in a few clicks.
