This critical event of university cooperation was held this year with the participation of Sylvie Retailleau, Minister for Higher Education and Research. She gave an opening speech reminding the actions of the French government to create an environment appropriate to the reception of foreign researchers and doctorate students through the use of investments in research infrastructures and programmes, and the improvement of working conditions of research thanks to the Loi de Programmation de la Recherche (LPR, research programming law).

Over the two days, more than 700 participants built and improved new university and scientific cooperation agreements:

  • 110 representatives from 57 diplomatic posts
  • 310 representatives of 102 French higher education institutions
  • 37 representatives of 7 research entities member of the Campus France Forum: CIRAD, CNRS, INRAE, INRIA, INSERM, IRD and Institut Pasteur.
  • 200 invited guests (external speakers, representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs).

Faced with the current challenges of French research (attractiveness of doctorates, international competition to attract the best researchers, etc.), 40 themed conferences and workshops were organised to take stock of the cutting-edge sectors of French research, the levers for bringing more value to France’s scientific excellence and good practice in welcoming doctoral students and researchers. Specific sessions focused on tomorrow’s challenges, gender equality, sustainable development and the major events of 2024 such as the Olympic Games and the Francophonie Summit.

The programme featured a cohort of top-quality speakers from the member institutions of the Campus France Forum, research centres, groups of institutions, networks, organisations and companies working to fund, recruit and host international doctoral students and researchers, including ONERA, CNES, CEA, the Marine Universities, UDICE, Campus Condorcet, the European Commission, Euraxess, the L'Oréal Foundation, Orange and ANRT.

Alongside these conferences and workshops, more than 1,000 face-to-face meetings led representatives of higher education establishments and research posts to meet and examine development opportunities of scientific and technologic cooperation projects.
