Overseas missions are a regular feature of working life for Jean-Claude Manuguerra, research coordinator and head of the emergency biology intervention unit at Institut Pasteur. When Campus France takes charge of travel arrangements, advance access to per diem allowance proves highly convenient.
I liase with Campus France for my missions as head of the emergency biology intervention unit. I get in touch with them as soon I get notice of a mission abroad, and depending on the fund provider I’m assigned a liaison officer accordingly.
Campus France handles practical issues such as flight bookings, and this always involves interaction. I’m asked what my preferences are, then Campus France looks into the matter, submits price conditions to the fund provider, and gets back to me, usually with a positive response. I appreciate their flexibility and attentiveness.
If the request is filed early enough, Campus France can advance per diem allowances. This is highly convenient, because otherwise I’d have to advance the funds myself.
Well, for a start, advance payment of per diem allowances is not standard practice across all operators. And though this might not apply to me personally, Campus France can also provide assistance on visa applications, and reimburse the expenses involves. That’s a precious aid too.
