Directly applying to French education institutions

Perhaps you live in a country where the online application procedure is not yet available, or you don't want (or are unable) to use Campus Network services…in those cases, this is how you apply to a French higher education program.

How do I contact French education institutions ?

Almost all French education institutions have a website -- a useful first contact. But usually the application procedure relies on regular mail, even though electronic enrollment is becoming increasingly widespread.

Do I need to contact several education institutions?

We recommend that you apply to at least three different institutions -- it will increase your chances considerably!

You should be aware that some institutions receive many applications for every available place. But there are other paths to education of comparable quality. Your CampusFrance advisor will be happy to discuss your alternatives with you.

When do education institutions send out there answers ?

Their decisions can be sent out anytime between June 15 and September 15.

This is important to bear in mind since in certain cases this means you will have little more than a month to prepare for your trip.

Final enrollment

You will complete your enrollment only after arriving in France. At that time, like all other students, you will register for classes in a series of administrative and academic steps.

Your education institution will then provide you with a certificat de scolarité (study certificate) and a student ID card which together confirm your legal status as a student. They are usually issued to the student in person, generally after full payment of tuition fees.
